The secret canyon known as the Wave is a unique natural wonder rock formation, a multi-colored chute of striated sandstone eroded over million of years from a sandstone mountain. The sculpted forms and swirled bands of color are simply breathtaking. Red, pink, yellow and cream rock have been blended together in a watercolor pallet to form castles, beehives, chutes and a thousand other shapes that will spark your imagination. The solitude, quiet and crystal blue skies will infuse you with a sense of peace as you take in the beauty.
This 6 mile round trip hike over loose rock and soft sand offers a challenge that will test your ability to hike in the desert and give you a sense of accomplishment at its conclusion. As you hike our experienced guides will tell the story of the geologic forces that shaped this remarkable paradise. Only twenty visitors a day are permitted to enjoy this internationally famous hike to one of the most scenic and photographed areas of the West, a rare opportunity for visitors to Red Mountain Spa that should not be missed!
