Ashdown Gorge/ Rattlesnake Creek Hike

Join us in the high alpine wilderness of the Cedar City area on the memorable Ashdown Gorge/Rattlesnake Creek Hike. Experience cooler temperatures in a unique setting, while hiking through Rattlesnake and Coal Creeks. The canyon experience brings forth an abundance of cliff walls, overhangs and Flanigan's Arch.

Our Trekker 3 guests will begin their hike in the Cedar Breaks National Monument area at Rattlesnake Creek Trailhead. Dropping almost 3500 feet over 10 miles, the views are stunning as you travel down the trail. Our Trekker 2 guests will enjoy a short visit in Cedar Breaks, taking in the incredible scenery before heading down the mountain to begin their hike up Coal Creek.

Trekker 2 hikers should be prepared for rock obstacles and minor scrambles.

All hikers should come prepared for cooler temperatures especially in the mornings or as you reach higher elevations. We suggest you layer your clothing. Much of this trip is in wilderness areas and is off trail hiking. Hikers will experience treks through very cool water in a shallow, rocky creek. It is recommended that you come prepared with two pairs of synthetic or wool socks and water-resistant or waterproof hiking shoes or boots. Open toed shoes and sandals are not allowed. As for many of our hikes, participants need to be prepared for elevation changes and the potential of weather pattern changes, which can be the determining factor as to the routes available.
